[abridged manuscript evaluation]
The author of this YA fantasy novel requested a manuscript evaluation focusing on the characters, structure, and plot of the story. As I read the book, I considered its genre and intended audience. I made suggestions about how to improve scenes as well as the plot and the main characters so that the story would appeal to a teenage audience. For instance, I pointed out ways the author could make the characters more interesting and believable. The author applied many of my suggestions and has since received multiple full-manuscript requests from literary agents.
